Super creative title, huh? : )
It’s that time of year again, when a few of us TWIPS “get together” (as in, blog together) to review and reflect on the past year. 2012 was such a packed year for me/HBI! That truly is the best way to describe it….
In 2012 I….
-Helped and watched my handsome husbands company grow and grow and grow
-Went on a 3 week honeymoon in Western Europe
-Launched an entire collection of wedding invitation suites
-Had the opportunity to join 2 amazing vendor lists: Style Me Pretty & Grey Likes Weddings
-Published in the 2012 Edition of Southern Living Weddings magazine! (someone pinch me)
-Officially launched our wholesale collection and got two huge buys from BHLDN (and although their paper goods offering is dwindling, ours did sell out and we are hoping to work with them for different wedding goodies in 2013)
-Tripled our # of clients in 2012 (compared to 2011)
P A C K E D ! ! ! Seriously, that’s all I can say!
But besides how jammed packed the year was….it’s also important for me to review my 2012 business goals…
1. Refresh/Redo website – yikes first one up is a big ol’ F
2. Get published - A+ and thank you Southern Living mag : )
3. Create a wholesale strategy – A
4. Launch Wedding Suite Collections – B- ….launched, but must promote!
5. Use marketing dollars strategically and analyze ROI at years end – A, still need to analyze ROI
6. Connect with more local wedding industry vendors – A+ I love the fabulous ladies I have grown closer to this year!
7. Participate in more style shoots - B- , we’ve probably done 6 -7 of these this year, which is MORE (technically) but not enough in my mind
Now let’s compare last year to this year. Just for fun! And that completes my recap!

It’s time to reveal another suite in the HBI Wedding Collection: our Antler + Deer Wedding Invitation Suite!
I don’t know about you, but I am not over the Antler look just yet, and especially not this time of the year! Our inspiration came from this gorgeous living room via Atlanta Homes Magazine.
I particularly loved the blue/turquoise accessories in the room. Elegant but rustic at the same time….

We’ve been in full swing over here creating our 2013 lineup. I’m overly excited to share all the collections….but I’m not going to share them all at once. I’ll be sharing one every week or so, and be sure to check in often because an amazing giveaway is going to go along with one of the posts. : )
The first collection is called Stripes…..sometimes when I’m really feelin’ my Texas roots, I call it Southern Stripes. This entire collection was inspired by this fashion illustration of a Jil Sander dress by the amazing Inslee Haynes…
If you’re interested in this collection (eeek we’re thrilled) just email us! We’re happy to create this suite in your wedding colors.
This week were in a photoshoot-state-of-mind. We’re taking pictures, working with photographers, and styling shoots for our new website launch, our new collection of paper goods and a crazy, cool idea we’re also launching! Exciting (we think so)!
While we’re in the midst of this photoshoot mania, we thought we’d offer a few tips to doing your own product photoshoot…
1. Know your style!! What sort of photos do you tend to be drawn to? Take a look at 4-5 of your favorite catalogs or look at some of you go-to online shops….what do you like about their product shots? What don’t you like?
2. Use filtered natural light! My favorite place to take shoots is in a bright room, with a large window, when natural light isn’t coming directly coming into the room. If the room has both East & West facing windows, you can easily filter the light by putting a sheer fabric over the window where direct sunlight is entering. Low-light can make photos blurry so always make sure you have enough light to get clean, crisp shots.
3. Use backgrounds & keep them neutral! Use soft colors without too much pattern. This will help the viewers eyes to be drawn to what you’re actually selling. And I should also add, always iron your background….you don’t want wrinkled fabric to ruin your shoot. Extra tip: Kraft paper works great for shoots, just roll it out and shoot!
4. Style to complement your product not distract! Use objects that complement….think of the color, size and shape of your product. You don’t want anything but your product to appear as the stand-out piece.
We’ll definitely post our product photos after the shoot!!

Hi there fellow friends : )
Recently, Honey Bee Invites has been living a wedding sign wonderland…..
And let me just say- I love it! We’ve been getting in orders for these signs like crazy and I enjoy making each and everyone of them. It’s literally like having a blank canvas and going to town….almost nothing is off limits. It’s a freedom that I embrace.
(Okay, honestly, I just wanted to have fun with the chalkboard design background). Now back to business….
Recent signs…(go ahead, you know you wanna peek)….
A Baby Shower Sign – our first one!
And a few wedding signs from this spring/summer…..
Also, we had the wonderful honor of working with Peyton & Chris on their lovely Charleston affair. Yes, Peyton from the Bachelor and Chris from the Bachelorette….they were on two different seasons, but met eventually and the rest…well it ends very happily as you can see! Also be sure to check out their new show on HGTV called Going Yard!! Another post on their wedding to come soon….
Until next time, loves…..
Hi all….two……one….none of you.
Wow. I hate this post already. I am not trying to be sad, but the truth is I am. And MAD too. I have not posted on the blog in forever. Now, it might be bad blog etiquette or bad blog-business to admit to that, but it’s the truth. I have so much to fill you in on…..and aren’t you sort of wondering where the heck I’ve been?! I am going to tell you anyway….
Well, first…. I got MARRIED! I cannot wait to share allll photos with you- and I promise to soon : ) The wedding was beautiful, everything I ever dreamed of and so, so much more. The man I married….perfection. As a little girl in pigtails and mismatched socks I always used to say one day I would marry Garth Brooks (remember I grew up in Texas ya’ll). No, I didn’t get to marry Garth Brooks, but what I learned from my “little girl” days was that I wanted to marry Garth because he was the man I dreamed of at night for half my childhood…he had all the characteristics I ever could have imagined in the “perfect man”. As I got older, I sort of lost my love for Garth because my imagination grew, and I started creating a man in my head that was more perfect and more me. I never actually imagined how it would feel to find that man and marry him, but I did. And I can tell you it is beyond anything you could ever dream of, read about in a book, or see in a Oscar-winning romance…. it’s better than perfection, because the truth is, you don’t really know perfect until you meet him and then marry him. Thank you for that, J.Blue Dandelion Photography)
I had so many ah-ha moments during my big day- I promise to share all these and more in my wedding recap post!
Okay, if you’re still reading, you’re a total trooper (and maybe bored or ultra supportive…love you either way). The second reason I fell off the earth is because I was helping my….ahemmmm…husband (still feels good) with his business. J owns a fitness company and it grew like crazy in 2012. Hooray for J! He needed someone to manage all the operations because he was on the road constantly…. well, “helping out with operations” turned into a 50+ hour a week job. I was overwhelmed and decided that I would have to put a few HBI things on hold until…well I didn’t have a plan actually. I won’t say I never grunted or complained, I did. But I wanted to let J chase his dreams like crazy…I wanted to see him get five-year-old-just-got-a-bike excited because he “made it big”. Afterall, I feel so fortunate to be able to work on making my passion my business and I wanted nothing more than for J to do the same thing. I loved watching his eyes light up as everything he planted grew…. he works so hard and he deserves this, all of it.
So long story short….what, it’s too late for that?! Ha!
I’m back. Happily. Dedicated. and I hope you can welcome this blog back into your world with open arms.
